Bridge-Final

Final UT environment---Obama & Prada

Power within space is in a sense the level of contrast between the scale of the space itself and the user within. This idea is consistent within the critical area of the client's office. The inspiration of the clients idea came from either their background (family, religion and so on), or their philosophy.

Obama's Office

Obama's office consists of 4 distinctly different space( Lounge room, balcony and altar), and one single large office. The philosophy of "Change" is brought out explicitly by the change in elevation, and horizontal movement a user must go through intheir long endured walk from the start end to Obama's office, which again emphasise Power (adopted from Hitler's Chancellery).

The four different space represents the 4 members in Obama's family, and this is highlighted again in the lounge room. Whilst the balcony represents freedom, transparency, altar represents Obama's faith, and last one Change.

At the end of the walk towards Obama's office, the use of shadow and light are used metaphorically to create a sense of "Hope". Power is emphasised ultimately within Obama's office as it is unsuprisingly massive compare to the whole structure. Again, Light & shadow are also implemented metaphorically.

Prada's office & meeting space

Meeting Space is just a simple space where the clients philosophy or characteristics fuse together, so in a sense the "Prada" sphere enclosed within the "Obama" cube is a representation of this idea.

Prada's space is developed as a simple but elegant space, with the idea of Fabric, and individualism combine to serve a whole. A representation of this is the Fabric and stairs like structure used to segregate partial space within as individual design studios or stations.

The architectural experience of power is achieved by forcing the user to walk around a fabric like staircase before one could enter the space, making it a lasting run that reminds of power.

EXP3: Mash up

For now, the stage is set, because Miuccia Prada, the Oracle of Via Fogazzaro (location of her headquarters in Milan), has always been way out ahead of the pack. The singer was accused of using her celebrity status to circumvent Malawian adoptions laws when she adopted son David -- allegations she denies. That adoption became final in 2008, the same year she and director Ritchie divorced. "If you wake up in the morning, you're a two-year-old kid, a child of class and city but more particularly and pertinently of her generation. And it is the tensions and contradictions between those different influences that make her work so pregnant and unpredictable, the president is on TV and the president is a Black man, it begins to shape their image of the world and the image inside of what they think they can accomplish, and increases their own feelings of worth. 'I am somebody. The president, this man, is running the country. I can run something. I can be in charge. I can get good grades.' That will be an ingredient of their psyche".

EXP2: The Edge- Final

Original Concept

The five captures

The Space on the front of the vertical surface is the laboratory for alfred Nobel, and the space behind the vertical surface is Couteau's laboratory, with the space been connected by two ramps and a client meeting space.

Nobel's laboratory was inspired by the idea from his quote, One thousand ideas and one. The space is interpreted as a series of exterior space revolving around a single interior space. The singular space appears in the numerous cubic form further strengthens the key perspective of Nobel's laboratory.

Couteau's laboratory is comprised of one longitudinal space and two latitudinal space adjoining together to form a flowing space around the client meeting space, whilst movement is free flowing within, the flow is directed or controlled by several thin walls, which symbolises his idea of "interdependent", meaning spaces within are interlocked or are interdependent of each other to form a singular space.
